Who am I?
I could tell you that I am a hardworking student, but that wouldn’t tell you very much. I could tell you that I am one of three children, but that would only turn your attention on my siblings. I could tell you that I am German, Italian, and English, but that would only tell you what my heritage was and not who I am as a person. So who am I? I am what I do.
I am a runner, a long distance runner to be exact. I was the captain of my cross-country team, and now I am the captain of my track team, because I am a leader. I love to run ten miles a day, and would every day if I had the time. My goal is to run a marathon by the end of this year.
I am involved in many different sports and clubs. I am a P.A.C.T. leader at BHS, a Snowflake leader, a leader at my church, and as previously mentioned, a leader of my sports teams. I am devoted to each activity that I take on and am committed to each one of them because I believe that you should give your whole heart to everything that you participate in. I am also very enthusiastic about everything that I do!
I am a writer. I keep a notebook of poems and stories that I’ve written in my desk drawer, and have many stories saved on a very old laptop that my dad gave me as a middle-schooler. I thought it was the coolest thing, even if it was from the 90s, and I used it constantly, typing story by story as new ideas popped into my head.
I am also a reader. I read books outside of school because I enjoy discovering a new world with a book and being transported to a different place and time.
I am outgoing and friendly, but I can also be reserved and quiet. How, you might ask, is this possible? Well, like any person, I need my alone time, but with a flick of a switch I can become a lively and energetic person.
I am influenced by those around me. Particularly, I am influenced by my parents. They have brought me up to be the responsible, caring, and respectful person that I am today. From them I have learned the importance of being focused and driven towards my goals, and that if I conduct myself in this manner, that the sky’s the limit. My parents have taught me to give back to others, and I frequently do volunteer work to better the society around me. I believe that everything around you influences who you are, but the people that influence you the most are the ones who you look up to, which in my case, are my parents.
I have set forth many goals for my life…to name a few:
1. Maintain a high GPA and perform well in school.
2. Put my best effort into everything that I do.
3. Exceed expectations.
4. Make it to state for track this year.
5. Choose the college that is right for me.
6. Forgive and forget.
7. Study abroad in Spain.
8. Get my degree in business, and in Spanish.
9. To raise a happy and loving family someday (far in the future!)
10. To stay in contact with my friends and family while away from them.
My purpose in life is to serve those around me who are less fortunate than I am. As Zimbardo found in the Stanford Prison Experiment, we are a product of our environment. My goal is to create an environment for others that is conducive for learning and growing and a place that people can call home.
